My partner been wanting us to go to Agnes Water for a long time, but I’ve been a little reluctant as I know it’s a popular backpackers destination and was worried it would be too busy and noisy. How wrong one can be…
Last year we left our Christmas vacation planning a little last minute and we didn’t have a lot of choices when it came to finding affordable accommodation near a beach within driving distance from Brisbane. We managed to score an AirBNB (with an amazing pool) in Agnes Water and I figured it was worth a try.
The drive from Brisbane is approximately 5.5 hours. If you have time it’s defiantly worth making a pit-stop in Harvey Bay and Bundaberg.
The locals were complaining it was the busiest it had ever been, but for someone who is used to Gold Coast & Sunshine Coast beaches I found it pretty good. Watch the below video and decide for yourself! And as for the backpackers? I didn’t even notice them.
Psst, the turtles are hatching around this time and you can see sign along the beach telling you to be careful not to step on their eggs! You can watch the hatching in Bundaberg!
